Query Type 1 or Type 2?

Featured Replies

Hello Forum Members

I an still awaiting delivery of the Fiesta. Meanwhile I have been studying the Fiesta Manual (Kindly provided in PDF format by ‘Nightowl’).

I an puzzled (nothing new there!) On several pages in connection with the audio equipment (and also the fuses) there is reference to ‘Type 1 and Type 2' .

There is no indication in the manual of the significance of Type 1 or Type 2.

Can any forum member put me out of my misery?

Type 1 is the standard stereo - without bluetooth.

Type 2 is the upgraded unit that everyone will have that has specified the bluetoth option.

Main difference, apart from the bluetooth features (obviously) is that the type 2 has more numbered buttons on the front to enable you to use it as a "telephone", inc # & * - whereas the standard type 1 only has the "normal" 6 numbered buttons. There are a few other slight differences - also the type 2 you will get a much bigger display, type 1 will only give you 2 lines ( I think) of basic info - radio station & time etc.

Thanks for the info Smudger.

I will be getting my Fiesta without bluetooth. If I only have number buttons 1-6 on the display how will I be able to access, for example, track 19 on a CD/mp3?

I guess you'd have to scroll through the list. Unless Ford have implemented a function where you hold say, 2, and it will take you to the 20's or hold 3 to take you to the 30's but I doubt it.

I gather you won't have the voice control either, because that would have been another way to access track numbers. :(

Just realised how painful scrolling would be on the smaller display... :(

It would be helpful if Ford produced a separate manual about the full functions of the Radio, CD, and CD/mp3 player.

Does anyone know the name of the manufacturer of the Audio Unit in the Fiesta?

Dont forget if you get the bluetooth and phone etc you get the 2 extra speakers. 6 instead of 4. Correct me if im wrong :)

This was brought up in an old topic, apparently the original company that built the stereo has closed down so I don't know who builds them now.
