Service Update - M Button/Software Upgrades

Featured Replies

Hi

The Mk7 has had it's 3rd trip to the dealer with the Engine Malfunction error on the dash. While in for the third time I asked them to look t why the steering wheel M Button cut callers off as opposed to answering a call.

After consulting the tech support, apparently this is not an option on my variant (March 2009), and the handbook is in fact incorrect. If it is any use as reference, I have the three lined dash display.

- On my first engine malfunction, I recieved a software update on the Power/Drive train module.

- On the second visit, absolutely nothing was registered in the computer, therefore nothing was done. (It's worth noting that on all

occurrences, the Management lights come off after 10 seconds).

- On the third visit I recieved a software update on the dash control module.

On the plus side, there is no actual problem with the drive, and I get a wash and valet every time!

I think i know what the problem is, that isn't the engin malfunction error, it is a cry from your car for someone to wash her.

Now you have to break the cycle, try washing it at home before it gets too dirt, she may then start to forget that the garage used to clean her for you.

All jokes aside, i hope this sorts it for you m8

Which "variants" does the M answer button apply to? Is it for cars built last year and not this year's models?

Any update on the MP3 skipping firmware update? I hear there is one and I am due my 12.5k service in a month or so and want to get this done!

Iron reverse - I am not sure how many variants there are thus far. I was told that mine does not allow this function. Seems a bit odd to me. Is a March 2009 and early or subsequent variant? I don't know.

Sussex - In terms of CD skipping firmware, I don't know whether this patch has fixed it. In all honesty I haven't used a CD, just the Radio and iPod. If you can tell me when and where it happens, I am happy to try it and report back to you.

Well Mine was built in March and I can't use the M button, so I suppose that the models built in 2008 may have the feature.

As for the MP3 skipping, if you burn a disc full of MP3's. One certain songs, it will always skip at the same points, usually for about a second.

I have temporarily reduced the skipping by keeping the number of songs below 80 but I did hear it skip once the other day. I'm not sure if it was the software or the road though.

Mine is an November 2008 build, and the M button don't work the way its ment to according to the handbook.

After I come back of my holiday, I will try and find time to give it try, and let you know what happens.

Thinking about it, on albums where there are no natural breaks in tracks, unless you specify in the softwarem like iTunes, a pause is actually added as part of the recording process. This has definately happened to me in the past. Could it be that? Dance Albums are a prime culprit.

No, these pauses are during the actual song. For example, the song White Lines and Red Lights skips at 39 seconds, 47 seconds and then a couple of times around 1.09-1.14. It skips further along the track as well but these are the only times I check when listening out for skips.

This is the main song I test with as it usually skips terribly.
