Noise From The Rear.

I've noticed a noise coming from the rear of the car. It kinda sounds like a jet plane high in the sky on a quiet day lol. I drove to work this morning and felt the discs at the rear, the rear near side is definitely hotter then the offside. Could this be a pad rubbing on the disc or the wheel bearing radiating heat to the discs ?? I failed to try and touch the hub this morning so don't know if that's hot ??
