Chatting to a Ford dealer earlier, who told me lead times are now increasing again on many versions.

1.6 tdci is 12 weeks or 14 weeks for a 3 door, anything ordered now is looking at Jan delivery.

Petrol zetecs can be delivered within a couple of weeks as there loads of them spare in the system, either "physical"(ie delivered) or en route for september delivery.

The folowing were showing as Physical within the dealer group:

45 3d 1.25 zetec

12 1.4 3d zetec

4 ecotonec

32 5d 1.25 zetec

23 5d 1.4 zetec

9 diesel 1.4 zetec 5d

The most amazing thing is the Ka is now being quoted as 24-26 weeks for a petrol version.

so you wont get one till 10 plate comes out.

How completely ridiculous. They are turning out thousands of cars a day from the two factories and that's the best they can do?

I'm starting to think this must be deliberate.

You've got to take into account all the other countries they're building them for, Europe, Australia and us. They may be producing thousands per day but once they're all allocated to the car dealerships around the world then it starts making more sense.

We're also one of the few countries that need the RHD version which will, understandably, be a smaller percentage of those "thousands"

The Australian ones are now being built in china.

The mexico factory is about to come on stream as well shortly.

Good job that I ordered mine when I did then as it has now been built and its just a case of getting it to the dealers . . . still telling me that it'll be week commencing 31 August so it could be there in just over a week!!!
