Engine Malfunction

Featured Replies

oh deaaaaaaaaaar

just wen i thought my car was perfect and running very well indeed i get into the car and turn the engine on then goes the very nice bong song

warning me of an engine malfunction - service immediately.

i pressed ok and the message went away and the car is running fine so god knows wats up with it but its going in on thursday to be plugged in.

on another note for no reason my stereo switched off today while i was just driving along normally

all fun and games :D

OH great . .another one with a problem! At least there does not appear to be a problem with one part and I guess you only need a veyr small percentage for a few cars per day to come off the production lines with potential problems.

Just hope you get yours fixed asap greeny and that mine is not one of those rogue cars!

Just as I'm thinking of trading in my old mk4 I'm hearing all these horror stories! :(

Going to the dealers soon so I'll post back tonight and let you guys no what I decide...

Don't forget that they are turning out thousands of the new Fiestas on a daily basis and these has only been a handful of reports on here of things going wrong.

To be honest, I would be happier with a newer car, covered by a warranty, than (as your own confession) a rattly old Mk 4 but as they say in all good gameshows

THE DECISION IS YOURS!

to be honest im not really that bothered by it.

my car is still running fine so it mite just be a problem with the warnings going off wen they shouldnt

fingers crossed

I had a problem with my MINI once when I revved to hard and the management wanring cut in - made me panic as I had had it shipped but left it overnight and it cleared and BMW told me not to worry about it . . .

Have to say I was 'passing' a brick at the time as not sure what the warranty would have done had their been a problem and clearly they would have had to plug in the engine management tool and I thought I was going to be rumbled!

Well i have just got back from the garage after being there for just over an hour.

i had 5 faults on the system but none were serious. they all got cleared.

they also put on the engine upgrade software.

So if you have a 1.6 tdci go and have an engine upgrade

So what does the engine upgrade do then??

i have no idea

i didnt really notice much difference wen i was driving back, maybe a tiny bit more power but nothing that noticeable

Oh they have not re-mapped your car up to the 118bhp that the Blufin one gives you then??

I have noticed, my radio, when u restart your car that the radio will be on but the volume be turned right down

never done it when mid drive though!!
