SausageDog
I'm new to this forum but I believe I'm in the correct place for my question! So, hi! I purchased a Ford Fiesta 1.4 STYLE around three weeks ago and unfortunetly failed, on the test drive, to detect a rattle from the front bumper area. At first I was really worried as I believed it could be a under the bonnet rattle. Anyway, I discovered it was just the plastic part behind the bumper hitting against a metal piece. I've produced a photo and will circle the two pieces and name them a and b. (This is just because I don't know the correct name sorry!) So A is a screw, evidently, and needs to go into the b which then tightens and then the plastic piece surrounding it can't rattle around. Now part b is meant to be a square and the left side of it has snapped off at some point. Is there anyway of me fixing this without purchasing a whole new bumper? It just seems silly to purchase a new bumper over a tiny piece of plastic! Any help would be more than appreciated and I hope I described it well enough and if not, I'll answer any questions! The photo is in an attachment below :) Thanks!
HarryNLD
I've had exactly the same issue with my old Fiesta. You need to be a little bit handy to fix it. I went to the garden shop and bought a square plastic pot (any thick piece of plastic will do). After that I measured/cut the peace I needed and nailed it (with pop rivets) to the bumper. Roughly where your two holes are (on the picture). When it's securely in place, I removed the plastic plug (A on your picture) and measure out where I needed to drill the new hole in the peace of plastic that I've just nailed into place. All I needed to do then was secure the plug (A) into the new peace of plastic. This little bit of DIY did the job for me. Hopes it helps with your problem. I will be doing this, thank you very much! May I ask, did yours also make a rattling sound?
HarryNLD
Just a little bit, but fixing it is always better.
BobbyDee
I had the same problem but I just put a self taping screw threw it. Still holding it. Mines wasn't making a rattle I only noticed it when changing my brakes.
