It appears that there are 3 potential part numbers, 2 are straight in shape like the new one fitted to my car & the 3rd looks more like the original part. Part number 1548460 looks like it may be the right one.

Going on pics yes that's the correct one it has an angled arm like the original.you can tell the garage now its wrong so any other cars they fitted it to they did so wrongly lol

Incidently I picked a MK1 Focus on the Euro Parts website & it gave the same part as if I picked a 2009 Focus, surely that can't be right as it looks totally different to the original?

ECP don't know what you need....the database is only as good as the person that originally put the data in! You'd be surprised how often they supply incorrect parts! I've even had parts for a completely different model not just mark before lol.

I've FINALLY found out what the crack is, the Europarts website doesn't ask what body the car is i.e. hatchback, saloon or estate. This turns out to be rather relevant as the non-ST hatchback takes the arm the garage have wrongly fitted & the saloon, estate & ST take the "bent" arm. Ford have also confirmed part number 1548460 is definitely the correct part & also backed up the 2nd garage I took it to this morning that said about the saloon, estate & ST taking a different lower arm.

At least I've got all the facts ready for when I collar the garage (again), I'll keep you guys posted.

Its easy to get wrong parts but common sense should have prevailed in this instance as it looks nothing like the original.

At least you know and can have them put the new one on dont pay any extra as the proper arm is dearer I think also if the drop links knackered get them to pay for that as well

I spoke with the mechanic today & he agreed to source the correct lower arm. The car is going in Friday to get sorted, I'll report back with this debacle is hopefully done & dusted!

Result, car went in today, genuine Ford lower arm fitted & both drop links replaced (I was going to do the drop links anyway!) :D

It turns out the only reason the garage didn't use a Ford part is because Ford quoted £135+ for the arm, basically they quoted the garage for a front arm not the rear lower arm. It makes more sense now as I've never had an issue with the garage cutting corners before.

All's well that end well, I'll take it out for a bit of stick tomorrow night to give it a road test :P
