Heater Blowing Cold

Featured Replies

Hi,

My heater has an intermittent problem where the heater only blows cold. It is a 2009 titanium with climate control.

When I first start the car it will blow cold with the temperature set to high then after a while it will start blowing hot. I have entered the hidden menu to display the coolant temperature and it gets up to temperature ok. There is no pattern at all eg I can be driving for an hour and it won't blow hot at all and on another journey it may blow hot after 20 mins.

I know the older models had issues with heater control valves but cannot find anything for my model.

Also my friend has plugged it into his snap on computer and it displays an error code B10B8 but I cannot find any helpful info for this code.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks

Done a bit more digging around and both flow and return pipes to the heater matrix are hot inside the car so no airlock. Must be a valve/flap somewhere.

Any ideas?

Sounds normal mate it takes a while to heat up

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I have had the car for 3 years and know what is normal and this is not normal.

Does it only do it first thing or does do it even after driving for a while?

Ashley from your description "starts blowing cold even set hot, then after a while it blows hot" I can totally see where Mikeyd's comment came from... Almost like "turn the kettle on and the water is cold, then after a while it gets hot"..

Are you suggesting it takes longer than it used to? Or doesn't get hot sometimes, does other times? Best of luck

Apologies, sometimes it will not blow hot at all, even after an hour and sometimes it will work straight away. I think I have a sticky flap to the matrix but getting to it is a nightmare. Looks like the whole dash has to come out.

Has any one ever changed a heater blower before who could advise?

Thanks

Hi there. I've got the exact same problem with same model of fiesta. Did you ever manage to get this sorted?

check your interior temp sensor fan is working, part of the sensor assy, its to the left of the steering column attatched to the trim panel

I've had a play about in that area. When I move the white arm by hand the temp changed. When I tried using the dials nothing moved.

did you check the sensor?

Hi, I also have Ford Fiesta mk7 2009 titanium diesel. And my problem looks the same as for @ashley3283. Until now I was able to find that when you turn on max blower button, after some time you heard some click of some kind of valve in the dashboard and after that when you turn of that max blower button, warm air starts to blow and everything becomes normal. And each time you turn on the car you have to do the same procedure.

Any ideas where to look ?, because I do not want to take all dashboard apart until I am not sure what the problem is. {p.s. sorry for my incorrect english :) }

Any news ? i have a similar issue just randomly blows cold air even though i have not touched anything, could it be the interior temp sensor if so worth a punt which one is it ? 1.5 tdci 2015 sports van mk7

Sounds like the flaps aren't moving correctly. I think Mk7 Fiesta has quite similar AC system than mk7.5. If I remember correctly there was some discussion in this forum about how to fix the flaps. I think this exact problem has happened to some Mk7 and mk7.5 owners but seems to be quite rare.

Did the above video help to resolve the issue? I have the same problems and have just resorted to wearing a jumper/coat on cold days.
