    Hi,

    I have 57 plate 1.4TDCI with 14000 miles and am getting in the Summer 52 miles to the gallon, that is on a 4-5mile journey to and from work plus another 20miles shopping at the weekend. When the winter comes that can drop to 42 miles to the gallon.

    The best i ever saw was when we went to the coast and back in a day with two adults + 2 children and a boot full of stuff, which was some 210 miles round trip, the car then returned 67 to the gallon, some of the journey was done at 75 miles per hour. generally i am a carefull driver.

    So i guess your miles per gallon arn't that bad.

    My other half drives a Renault 1.5DCI Scenic, she gets around 41-44 to the gallon, but that car pulls around 1.4 tons of weight.

    Temperature has a great affect on mpg, and keeping the revs down makes a difference too.
