Hello From Newby In Dorset

Featured Replies

Hello All :)

I've recently returned to Ford ownership with a purchase of Ford Focus Mk2 1.8TDCi Ghia Estate in Panther Black.

I got this for such a ridiculously low price, that I was expecting to find something costly that needed repair but the only faults I found are a dead rear wiper motor, a broken dash storage compartment catch, a broken aerial base and broken armrest hinge! That's not exactly going to break the bank. Alloys could do with a refurbishment too.

Until just recently, for the past 10 years or so, I drove and maintained Vauxhall Astra Mk3 Isuzu engined 1.7DT estate. I wasn't as such, looking to replace it but I needed another car to use whilst I stripped it back to rebuild most of the rear quarter. However, since driving the Focus, I've sort of lost interest in restoring the Astra.:huh:

I'm not really into modifying for the sake of it but if a mod otherwise enhances my driving experience or I want/need that extra function - I will.

That said, for the comfort of my dog, I will be installing a bespoke ventilation & heating system, in the boot area; where her travelling crate is. Which comprises of a Pacet Ventfan VF4840 on the roof, two powered vents to floor (for airflow), a 12V thermostatic waterproof heating pad (to go under her crate) with a separate 110Ah leisure battery to power everything. The vent exterior cover will be colour coded Panther Black, so it doesn't look odd - (currently GM caribbic blue - which would :o )

I have a 2 channel dashcam (Lukas LK9750) that I bought last week, to do a hard wire installation and in an effort to to save sill damage, I've ordered a set of genuine Ford mudflaps.

I may at some point, change the stereo from the stock one to either a mk2.5 plus a DAB+ receiver or an aftermarket one with a DVR to enable the installation of a reversing camera.

Cheers

Ghana
