The crank sensor is not that easy without ramps the gap is critical, most cars come set. but the ford one is adjustable, don't know why.

On the mk2 its very easy jack the car up at drivers side and place jack post under for safety ..sensor is located near oil filter it is in a bit of tight spot i just used a small rachet with 8mm socket .all you have to do is remove one bolt remove and unplug sensor and replace with new no adjusting needed on this model anyway

I have similar issue.

C Max 1.8TDCI, will not start at all once warmed up. But once cooled for a couple of hours will fire up just fine, & from cold (standing over night it will start first turn of the key!

Diagnostic shows low fuel pressure, changed fuel filter, fuel rail pressure sensor, checked temp sensor (showing fien) with no change in not starting when cold.

About to change crank sensor & hoping for the best, otherwise it'll be looking at the fuel pump. But doubting the pump as it starts & runs fine from cold.
