How Many Miles?

Featured Replies

It is laughable to think that 5 years ago my mother bought the 1997 Fiesta (with just over 50,000 miles on the clock) and said she would never consider a car with over 100,000 on the clock...

She's now driving a 2005 Nissan Primera with over 200,000 miles and loves it, refusing to even consider replacing it (I've tried!).

I've always known mileage was irrelevant as opposed to the vehicle condition and service history, but a lot of people still insist on low mileage vehicles.

So, what is the mileage on your current car (and what is it)?

I'll start:

2005 Nissan Primera 1.8 petrol - 200,002 miles.

59 plate Ford Focus Zetec 1.6 - recently hit 24,000 miles. A spring chicken :)

52 plate focus 1.6. Just gone over 115,000 miles

I had mistakingly thought my Mk2 Focus 1.8TDCi had covered 180K something until I went down to get the actual mileage, for this thread.

LOL!! I must have misread the"6" for an an "8".

Actual mileage is 160,068 miles.

For comparison, the Astra 1.7 DT on a "N" 1995 plate, which is awaiting it's purchaser/fate in the drive, has covered 162,254 miles.

and my Mum's Mk1 Focus 1.6 16v Auto on a 54 plate, has covered 31,535 miles

2008 focus mk2 facelift - 40,000 miles (I've put more on it in 9 months than the previous owner did in the last 2 years!)

2014 Mondeo 2.2 TDCi TXS - 8985 miles

2015 Focus ST - 4235 miles

2008 Focus DV6 - Passed 60k miles last week

2nd lowest mileage car I've ever owned (lowest being a 2013 107 on 9k, hated it and returned it to buy the Focus instead). Highest I've ever owned was a diesel 306 sold on 274k. Must admit, having owned so many cars, mileage does make a difference, but it's far from the only thing you should consider when buying imo.

With used cars:

Low mileage + short trips + no/low maintainance = poor choice

High mileage + long trips + serviced meticulously = better choice

Low mileage + varied trips + serviced regularly + FSH = better choice (particularly for petrols)

High mileage + ex-police/MOD/fleet hire + serviced meticously + FSH = best value

Mk7 Fiesta Zetec S 1.6 Ti-VCT, 2011... just hit 22'000 miles ;)

Peugeot must have changed gauge suppliers, as I remember our old 405 had a Jaeger speedometer.

That's pretty much spot on Ghana.

Our 2000 Focus with over 180k and at 15 years of age was still on the original clutch and battery, most likely due to the fact it was driven for long journeys so very little stress was put on either component.

405 would've had a mechanical drive speedo and analogue milometer as well iirc! Same as the very early 306s if so! I prefer the later ones with a bit more spec myself though. :D

61 plate Focus, If I remember correctly it's around about 32500-33000 not going to look it's to windy lol. I've put about 6k on it in the 6 1/2 months I've had it. Last car was a 1.8 mk4 Astra that I brought with 108000 on the clock and Furrows took it off me with I think about 150000. I had that car 2 or 3 years

bought my smax 08 reg, when it as just over 3 years old,and as i was driving it home it clocked up 100k.

its now 7 years old and i racked up 119000 in her.

Indeed it did, with the good old needle shake!! We had that car back in 2003 when I was 8 years old and I have always wished that I took pictures of the car, but at that age I wasn't thinking in terms of having photos for future reference. I think it had upwards of 150,000 miles, but honestly couldn't say for sure.

I've done a few more since this was taken - about 150 I think lol

Focus Mk2.5 - 1.8 Petrol

post-37110-14506053516_thumb.jpg

Mk2.5 Focus ST done around 66000 miles. full service history when I bought it, now serviced by myself and my mate, (I know its done correctly now )

Mk3 Mondeo titanium x 2.2 diesel. Think its done 114000. No service history when I bought it, same as ST. serviced by myself and my mate. Again I know its done right.

Mondeo is a great driving car. I can honestly say it is probably one of the cars that has surprised me most out all the cars I have owned.

Had a Skoda Octavia with 158000 miles on it,

My mates old mk1 Mondeo 1.8 diesel had over 200000 miles on it. Me and my mate looked after it for him, servicing etc.

Ended up going for scrap though due to body work, got to the stage it was needing more and more welding each time the mot was due. but the engine still ran sweet.

Look after them and they will keep going.

2015 Focus ST - 4900

2014 Fiesta Zetec - 10200

st 07 44000

mini 05 46000

14 plate Fiesta Zetec S Ecoboost 125 - 4,250

I like the idea of a low mileage car, that way, I can get an extended warranty so when it goes bang, I dont have to worry! but, my high miler has surprised me.

My history was around this:

N reg Citroen AX: bought with about 101k on the clock, sold around:

DSCF0385_zps51c16679.jpg

Then bought the Fiesta: Started off with 9500 on the clock (at three years old!) Sold with around 23k on her!

Then bought the Focus: Started off with around 35k on the clock, sold at around 58k, as I was getting worried about the DPF failure and didnt have a grand to fix her!

Then was the Kia Cee'd: bought her with 21k on the clock, 6 of 7 years warranty remained... Passed her on with about 55k on the clock.

Next was the CMAX: 44K miles on the clock when I bought her, got shot of her with 58K on the clock, as the gearbox was getting ready to blow!

Finally, the current motor is the Mondeo. Bought her with 110k on the clock, and she is sitting at about 136k now, with many more miles to come!

Just shy of 5000 miles at 4991, 2015 plate ford fiesta titanium x

52 plate Focus mk1 ST170 on 68k with full service history in panther black 8a5fd30cbd93fc31a00d355fa41e0a32.jpg

now that is nice
