spitfire123
hi all, got some number bord stickers from work...there about 6" long by about 5" tall... i want to put them either on the side of the car or on the bonnet. but is it illegal or not? i heard from someone that number son a car were illegal? i dont see why? will just add to the look and thats the only reason i want them to be honest. cant find any info on the matter online. cheers
pikestones
You can put them on,as long as you dont try to make them look like a number plate, and confuse the anpr scanners. The size you mention clearly doesnt resemble a number plate. If they were illegal, all the taxi firms, pizza firms etc would need to remove their advertising on car sides. MichellefromEssex
Max has our phone number and mobile number on the side of his van so I doubt its illegal.
mick88
would say that number's and letter's that are put on as advertising are ok, heard that number's that are put on as in race car style on the door's or roof have to be crossed out when on the road
pikestones
You need to have a look at the "motor vehicle construction and use regs 1988", As far as i can see theres no rules about restrictive placing of text on the side of the car,and certainly no reference to having to cover the text on a public highway. pikestones
The c and u regs do not differenciate between numbers and letters, they are all refered to as text. At least I am quoting from a source, not heresay. Dave
