Opening up the festa

Featured Replies

Ive not seen any threads concerning torque power of peoples new festas

so was wondering if anybody has driven theres hard yet or are we still babying

them around, ive startedd to give mine more aggression (not all the time like a loon ball)

but when needed and im impressed, hit 4500 5000Rpm and these things launch to 5th gear

definatley need flooring to gain torque out of these.

5000 rpm in 4th in mine would end up being about 90mph and by that time i would easily be in 5th gear anyway

your right tho, the diesel engine does pull very well indeed

opened mine up from day 1 goes pretty well for a fiesta   mind u it is mountuned :P :P

If you are going to gun it, take the car to 5500rpm before changing gear, I have had mine on a rolling road at the torque band dipped at 5500.

The VCT will kick in at roughly 3500rpm in every gear.

BTW mine mine gave an output of 126BHP, stock. Apparantly due to it having an adaptive ECU (basically it responds to the way you drive) and that I've always had Super Unleaded in it.

That's quite shocking really, especially seeing as BHP is measured by manufacturers directly from the engine and not on a rolling road, by the time the power reaches the wheels and then the road you've usually lost a few BHP in the real world. Don't suppose you did a 0-60 run on the rolling road? How did it compare to the stated 9.9 seconds?

Well if Ford state 120 at the flywheel and a rolling road is giving 126 I'd say thats pretty good - even if the rolling road is compensating for the drive-line losses, that engine is still putting out more than Ford claim - which is definately the right way round!

I am approaching 1000 miles so have been opening her up a bit more, rev to 3500 or 4 grand normally. But I have overtaken a few things and find the damn thing so smooth I have to check the revs to change. Really impressed though I must say, I have ben using cheap crappy supermarket fuel however, will fill her up at a Shell garage next week and see what happens.

Interesting results from the super unleaded as I've always been told it's a waste of money on cars with less the 250 bhp??
