I'm not sure which in my fuse box is constantly live... I'd like to do it this way, seems a lot easier...

simcor
If I was buying again I would go for the Blackvue front and rear kit to be honest. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Blackvue-DR650GW-2CH-16G-Version-Front-Rear-HD-Car-Dash-Cam-/121898331081?hash=item1c61b4ebc9:g:N-oAAOSwPc9WxbXr Pricey but the quality seems good, the size and shape is awesome and pretty discreet and has all the functions I would want and Wifi too.
Cookey09
Ah right! I'll check that kit out. I read about wifi. Isnt that so you can view the live stream of video from the cam on your phone/tablet via an app. Would this mean the camera woulf switch on though and drain the cars battery? I want to know if there is a way of hardwiring but not connect direct to battery. If there is a live fuse that remains on for the entire time when ignition is off. I could fuse tap this right? simcor
Yes you can tap the power from a fuse that has a switched live and one that has constant live for the cables, it does not need to be run straight to the battery at all. You can do loads with the Blackvue ones but they are pricey, steam via Wifi and upload videos to the cloud etc. I just also really liek the design of the cylindrical version, seen one mounted and it's pretty smart and discreet, viewing angle is sadly only 120º but a lot of cameras are and mine is and is pretty much fine, although I would prefer 140º if I had the option maybe.
Cookey09
Ah right okay! Intersting! I like the look of the Road Angel Halo, has everything except wifi... ill check the blackvue ones out. Just checked my owners manual. The power from the fuse panel in any fuse will only last 30minutes before turning off... now i want to make the most of the parking mode. If i tapped into a fuse that stayed on for the 30minutes after ignition off. And an incident accured after that 30 minutes would the camera wake up or would it have no power? If you get me? Cookey09
How would one of these perform I wonder as apposed to hardwiring? http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?catalogId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=318427&productId=1212471&storeId=10001
jace1969
Might be a bit of a stupid thing to ask but why do you want it connected 24/7 is it just for the shock side say if anyone hits the car it will activate, mine works off Hardwire kit on ignition as my power supply aint on constant and wanted it spare so set it onto Hardwire kit.
JSMarsden
Mines in the 12v Socket - and I have a GSensor on mine meaning if there are big G's in the car/Camera whilst its on, it will lock that file and save overwriting of it. Don't think mine has anything on when hit in carparks etc, which is why i tend to park away from people wherever possible :(

Autovox, nextbase duo and nextbase 402!😩 Indeed! Comes Friday Wish I had it yesterday though, was stuck in traffic near Thurrock for a few hours, pulling into a slip road and this idiot pulls in from the middle lane last minute making me slam my breaks on, the lane split into two and we exchanged a few words, driving like and idiot and swearing infront of his kids.. would of been a good video to put on Youtube! By the way, I wouldn't go for the powerbank option, you'll end up buying another one pretty quickly, plus you'd have to keep recharging it constantly. Just had a look at the roadangel, looks pretty good!
Cookey09
Good man! Ronnie Pickering?😉 Powerbank option, nah, I was just toying with the idea😋 I've moved on from the Road Angel Halo. Read one review and said it was the best dashcam etc.. But the ThinkwareF750 has took its spot. Has Wifi. Can control setting via an app. Just seems brilliant. Not heard one negative. jace1969
Does the rear and front camera if you have both work off the sensor if hit or banged in anyway as if not wont it only get the front and not even all the sides. I can see what you want to do.
Cookey09
Both front and back will start to record if it senses anything while ignition off. Id be reversing into spots. Parking carefully but its otherd that im concerned about so, its a case of protect as much as i can.

It came today, memory card and everything, might wait until the weekend to install it though. Imagine Ronnie Pickering, but a wet gel haired rat sort of thing in a beige Skoda, he called me a soppy "see you next tuesday" and then ended it with calling me a sausage. And wow, the amount of tech that thing has is great, the safety features etc., if the Speed camera and average speed alerts work well you'll be laughing.
