2.2MonDale
Hi guys I am having egr issues for the second time in a year suprise suprise. So this time last year I had constant power loss during accelerationg even with foot fully pressed. I also had flashing coil. Which the guy I guy bought it from told me it was fine and that it was re-energising from lack of use. (As if i was buttoned at the back) So they eventually took it back and replaced the egr valve. Now 11months later I have powerloss during acceleration but NO flashing coil took it to a garage brung up the code p0402 exhaust gas recirculation excessive flow detected. Now i had spoken to a ford mechanic and he mentioned about a drilled blanking plate to cure this fault. Then I tried to buy one from eBay and this was the response "Thanks for your email and vehicle details. Im afraid that as your Mondeo is the later version of this model, the ECU monitors and controls the EGR valve. So if it is fully blanked the ECU will log faults as it detects low flow. So unfortunately there aren't many options for this version. The ECU is also so sensitive that if a restrictor plate is installed, sometimes that can also put the EML light on. (especially if the EGR extension pipe that comes from the EGR cooler is slightly blocked already). So the only other option is a digital delete, this can be done but there are very few tuners in the UK that can actually perform a digital delete on this version.. Sorry its not better news. Kindest regards" Now i am inclined to believe what the ford mechanic was saying but due to my lack of knowledge i am now at a great disadvantage if anyone could help me out I would be eternally grateful p.s My car is a Mondeo on a 2007 plate it is a 2.2 TDCI ST 155 bhp thanks again

iantt
thought it would be better to fix why the egr blocking up so fast. a properly running diesel doesnt just block an egr valve in 12 months. poor diagnosis at the first egr replacement.
2.2MonDale
I have no idea where to start mate honestly a tad clueless here. However I am inclined to agree with you it was arnold clark who done the original diagnosis and just chucked parts at it felt like that was their limitation of capabilities
