Focus MK2 1.6 TDCi Titanium Jacking Points & Axle Stands

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a standard Focus MK2 1.6 TDCi 2010 Titanium and am trying to work out the best way to raise it (both front & back) using a standard car jack and axle stands.

I have consulted the owners manual and Haynes workshop book and they both say the right way is to raise the vehicle using the sills (front & back).

The only problem I have with this is that the part of the sill suggested for jacking is not long enough to get both the jack and axle stand in at the same time.

I would very much appreciate some advice on this.

Cheers,

Stophen.

I tend to put the axle stands under the subframe at the front, there's a large bolt towards the back where it's bolted to the chassis each side, that area should be strong enough.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me. I don't suppose you have any pictures / diagrams of these positions?

Cheers, Stophen.

would be better to buy trolley jack then you can raise it to the required height  to get axle stands under car

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

I do own a trolley jack but am unsure about where to place it under the car apart from where the Ford and Haynes manual suggest.

Cheers,

Stophen.

Sorry, with the new forum systems I keep missing thread replies!

I'm afraid I don't have any pictures, and cant find any of the right area online either.  The jack goes on the jacking points, the stands just need to go under a solid part of the subframe, you'll see where the subframe bolts to car with large bolts, that's a good place to put the stands.
