Mondeo 1.8 Petrol Revving up

My 54reg Mondeo 1.8 petrol is revving up on its own. Just Touch the accelerator pedal & take your foot off straightaway & the revs go upto about 4000.

when driving & dipping the clutch to change gear & the revs don't drop. On tickover it runs abit lumpy & the revs go up & down slightly without touching the accelerator. I've checked the throttle

cable & its not sticking.

Any help would be appreciated.

    pcv pipe at back of inlet manifold split,just done mine easy job pipe expensive tho at 43 pound from ford.
