Can you have different profile tyres on front and rear?

Featured Replies

Im needing some new rear tyres, I currently have 195/65/15 all around.

Looking for tyre prices online, I have noticed that I can use either the current tyres I have now 195/65/15 or I can choose 205/55/15.

I am wanting to change to the 205/55/15, but at present only my rears need replacing.

Is it ok (legal) to keep the 195/65/15 on the front and have the 205/55/15 on the rear? I do have an MOT due next month so I don't want to fit the different sizes unless it's legal.

I would like them all the same but the fronts have quite a lot of tread left on them, so will eventually change those as well.

Also, has anyone run 205/55s on a rim for 195/65?

Yes its legal as long as the tyres are the same size on each axle ie both fronts or both rears.
