Steering rack

Featured Replies

Has any one had a problem with the steering on there ford focus . I have a 61 plate 1.6 td esate and when i start it in the mornings my steering is imposible to turn . And today a warning came up saying( Assisted steering malfunction ' need service .) I turned of and re started and it was ok but i no it will happen tomorrow. I took it to fords and they want £80 plus vat to plug it in ( rip off ) they did say that on my model the elec' steering pump is on the rack and it would be £1000.00 pound plus vat and labour if i needed it . Or it could be a modual . Has this happend to anyone out there .

You're the first I've heard of to have that problem. How many miles? I'd be tempted to put in a claim to ford for that, even though you're out of warranty they may still contribute towards the cost.

it will be the steering rack as the module is part of the rack assy,  ive seen one with the same problem.

ford wont want to know regardless of mileage.
