59 Mondeo Titanium airbag issue

Featured Replies

Hi there. I am having trouble with my Mondeo Ti airbag light and module, have had a garage look at it but need a second (third, fourth) opinion before spending money on it. The issues and what the garage told me are as follows:

The airbag light doesn't come on. The airbag module is full of crash data. The HPI check is clear and there are no signs of significant damage. The instrument cluster needs repairing or replacing to see if that fixs the light as the garage believes it has been disabled and the airbag module needs replacing to be able to determine the root cause; it could just be the module or sensors are going off etc.

The problem I have is that the garage tells me they can't interrogate the current module to find out what the fault is but I don't understand why that is and don't want to spend 100s of pounds to replace it and the instruments to find out the car is basically a write-off. Is there some way to interrogate or test the module or airbag light before going ahead with more work?

Any input gratefully received.

Cheers

Al

take the centre console apart, pull out the connector for the airbag module from under the cupholder, then give it a good few cleans with electrical contact cleaner and connect it back up.
