Tank Millage

Featured Replies

Hi i have a Ford Focus 1.6 125 Titanium 5dr Powershift Hatchback i havent had it long a few weeks in fact not sure if it is an issue or just me when i fill the tank i only seen to  get 304 miles to a tank which i dont think is a lot as i had a vauxhall astra 2007 befor my focus and on a full tank i got around 400 to 430 miles does this seem right or is it just me

Many thanks

Rab

That does seem low...  According to Parkers (hardly the most reliable source, I know!) it should get an average of 44MPG and with a 55 litre tank, that would equate to around 500 miles before the needle reaches empty.

If you are only getting around 300 miles from a tank (lets say 50 litres as you'd be leaving a minimum of 5 litres reserve before filling up) then that is only 27MPG!

I'd first of all wait for some more experienced members to reply to this thread, but my view would be that there is an issue somewhere causing such poor fuel economy.

Either that or you drive like a maniac...

Depends how you drive it, we all 'think' we drive 'normal' but in reality we don't, so if your the 'gung ho' foot to the floor, boot it away from the lights (I've got to go fast) type then 304 miles 'might' be a decent mileage for your type of driving. Also, short journeys will drag the mpg down!

Well, how everybody drives on a daily basis is their "normal", the problem is that "normal" is subjective.  I.E. going 50MPH in a NSL zone is "normal" for some people

whats normal in every day life? without driving normal. lol

When I said 'normal' I mean everyday driving, not playing at being Sebastian Vettel at every set of traffic lights or junction ;)

on todays congested  roads normal driving is a myth

Thanks for the reply  .I dont drive the a maniac :) but a lot of my driving is town driving very rarely do motorway driving

hi,, i have a 1.6 diesel and if i shove £25 worth in it usually shows around the 300 mpg mark, i cant tell you what a full tank shows as i don't ever fill it, pointless carrying extra weight and the car can get me anywhere on just over half full, its the Econetic engine which is very frugal indeed.

I wish my 1.6TDCi did 300mpg.

300mpg ! I want me one of those. Lol

lol,, yer its good but not that good, i mean it shows around 300 miles for what's in the tank when i shove in £25 worth.

Ford would be knocking my door down for my car back with that mileage, oops.

Full tank on mine when booting it everywhere I get about 400 miles out of a full tank, but my normal driving chilled out not booting the turbo all the time I get 650 miles from a full tank.

I have 1.8 tdci 2007 titanium full tank will get 370mile n that's booting it round town now n again. I have had it down motorway. Long journey and got approx 550mile which I was happy about. Good on fuel if don't boot
