Potential profit?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

So I was thinking yesterday, my car is on finance and I can buy it at the end of the 3 years for an extra 5k. I was thinking if i do this it means i can do any mods I want but also it means I can sell it on? So even if i sold it for say 7500 I could potentially make maybe a 1000 "profit" its not really profit as I've been paying it up for 3 years but i wouldn't have got that back anyway so atleast this way I get something back, and i can do any mods I want!! (Re map here we go!)

Anyone think that's doable?

I might be wrong here but Im trying to pay my figures right also.

if you bought the car, great youll have some profit but moment you start to add mods chances you are you might actually loose. however, youve then got to work out if youll gain a profit anyway as the fiestas loose a lot of value (ive noticed) and with a new model cominh out soon (so im told) it will drop majorly.

i might be wrong though.

I'd never hand my cars back, generally if you barter your car is worth more than the GMFV.

Bear in mind it is guaranteed MINIMUM final value.

There is usually at least 1K equity above the GMFV

So you're saying keep the car and sell it later?

The car will be worth most to pay off the GMFV and then sell it privately, unless you haven't looked after it or have modded it so much you can't sell it privately.

Or what many people do is part-ex it in for another car, the part-ex value is usually higher than the GMFV, so the difference comes off the new car price.

If the dealer wants a car they may offer to buy it off you and pay you the difference above the GMFV.

Basically just giving the car back is the least cost effective option.
