Ford 1.8 Tdci engine/dpf

Featured Replies

Hi there,

so ive just bought a Mondeo estate 1.8 tdci sport. It's a 2011 and only done 16,000 miles. It's been serviced every year by ford.

my question is.

this is my first Diesel engine and I've heard that the dpf is an issue if you don't do regular mileage.  The wife will do the school runs during the day about 5 miles and were do longer trips at weekends.  Will this be an issue?, as the engine has only done 16000 mileage can we expect any problems when we really start using it or will most parts be broken in by now.

thanks

matt

Literally I do about 10 miles a day in my 2.0 TDCi... The best thing for the DPf is to on the weekend. Take it along a motorway/dual carriage way and nail it at around 100mph to force any crap out the DPf. Do this for a few mins every week and she'll stay sweet.
