Problem with iPod Touch G3 and New Fiesta

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I'm new on this forum and I have a problem that I hope you can help with. I have a new Fiesta Zetec S, and I've just bough one of the latest iPod Touches but for the life of me I can't get it to connect to the stereo in my car. :(

I am using the proper Ford Y-cable, but when I plug the ipod touch into the cable it just beeps and says it is charging and I never get the "iPod Syncing" message on the radio display. If I press the Aux button the display just changes to "line in active" and when I press back to go into the Aux menu the iPod and USB options are greyed out and not selectable. Also a couple of times when I have tried to press the Aux key nothing actually happens and it stays on the Radio. I have tried leaving the iPod connected for a whole car journey without touching it and it still won't sync.

I tried connecting my old iPod classic, and my wife's iPod nano and they both sync up straight away, so I don't think it's a problem with the cable.

Is there some sort of setting on my iPod touch I need to enable to get it to work? I've checked through all the menus and I can't find anything obvious that would stop it from syncing....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.....

Cheers

Firemin ;)

I think your problem may be that the IPOD Touch does not have the 'Use as a disk function' that the rest of the IPOD range does. Your ford Audio need the use as disk function to work with an IPOD. There may be a solution within the IPOD applications but I am not aware of one.

If you want to know more try searching for 'IPOD touch Use as Disk' There's quite a lot of comment about this and maybe the odd solution fi you read through them all.

Doesn't the IPOD touch have Bluetooth now. I wonder if that could be made to work somehow?

Cheers for the reply.

I managed to dig out the car's manual and it referenced a website with compatable iPods listed on - according to the webite only the 1st gen Touch's are compatable. Having said that bizarrely last night it did actually sync as soon as it was plugged in and I managed to listen to some music, however this morning when I tried it wouldn't.

I'll have a search for the "use as disk" issue.

And yes it does have bluetooth although I'd rather keep my phone as the bonded device so I can receive calls,...
