For a diesel to start, it only needs 2 things:

Compression (which means piston rings & bores ok, cranking speed ok, valves all ok, and anything I have missed out!)

Fuel (which means fuel to the main pump, main pump ok, injectors ok, injector timing ok, crank sensor ok, plus more)

Probably not relevant, but I had an old petrol car, same problem of no warm start: It was a badly leaking valve.

I presume no warning lights come on?

Has the fuel filter been changed at the recommended interval?

Worth checking the oil condition & level. If there are sticky deposits in & around the oil filler cap or dipstick, then bad compression is likely due to stuck rings or general wear. These 1.6TDCI's are very sensitive to oil related problems.

May be worth having a compression test done.

Just some ideas, but mainly I am answering this to refresh the post, get it back to the top of the list!

Peter.
