Painting Brake Calipers (need ideas!)

I looked at this with interest and decided I'd have a go.   However, before I did, I rang my insurance and asked them if it would be considered a modification.   The guy said tht it would and I asked why, as it didn't alter the car except in appearance.   He said that it make it more liable to being stolen.   Really!!!

Very good point @Bobr made about painting brake calipers, please see the Thread below about my conversations with Adrian Flux about my painted calipers. Basically they will either decline to Insure, accept your modifications & charge an additional fee or just note the modification on your Policy at no extra chage which is what they did with me. Long story short,if you change or alter your car in any way from how it left the Factory when it was new & you don't notify them then you are in breach of the Terms & Conditions of your Policy & you are not insured.

Get a wire brush to take any rust/paint flakes off first.  Use some decent paint like Hammerite and it should be fine.

  • Ive always been an addict for detail, once a month the wheels come off so I can polish the whole of the wheels and not just the fronts lol. While they're off I pressure wash under the arches (carefu

Is Myspace still going!?  Showing your age there though!

I'm always surprised when someone says they don't have facebook nowadays. Didn't get on with Twitter though, and don't understand instantgram...surely those 2 together (pictures and statuses) make up facebook lol...

On topic though, the rear wiper on my Mk6 is knackered, the spring has seized in the arm, funds don't allow atm but when they do I'll look at changing for a plastic one like yours.

Yeah MySpace, don't know if it's even still going? I came off Facebook about 9 years ago & have absolutely no regrets,i'm quite a private person & even back then i had concerns about privicy & all the nutters that live their life on there.

I've got a spare broken rear wiper with a perfect spring still in it,if you want it FOC just pm me your address & i'll pop it in the post

Ray, apart from my dad and myself, your the only other person I know of who doesn't have Facebook! I'm 19. I don't have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, anything like that. I have snapchat and this... That's it. Aha!

I got this ZSOC and instagram ;)

How do you stalk people you used to go to go to school with and envy how far they've got in life since you last saw them?

But seriously, I do like facebook, I very rarely post on there, and tbh most 'friends' on there know very little about me - much less than some on here will lol!  But I use it to find events like car shows etc, use messenger for free to directly ask questions or arrange meeting car fwends (though I guess you youngsters all have free texts now, I'm still on PAYG lol) and like seeing other peoples pictures (of cars, fails, pets and holidays...not so much the babies lol).  I also like the dedicated pages for Focus, Fiesta, 306 etc, like forums but with instant replies and no membership to pay for.

I'm also quite a private person in real life...that seems to change on the internet.  However I do try to keep facebook separate from forums, I keep facebook locked down & secure as possible with my full name being on it.  I'm a bit more lax on forums where most people won't know me lol, fortunately about 50% of guys seem to be called Tom so my username is fine.

That would be fantastic if you don't mind sending me that, will PM you now.

Aha, there was some good lads at school, got their numbers, have a meet up every now and again😏 The majority of my year was full of people I don't want to associate myself with anyway. Being 19, you can see for yourself the state my generation is in, their ideologies of life and the stigma attatched to my generation... Couldn't go as far to say I envy any single one of them 😋 I get where your coming from though!

I see who I need to see at work each day, whatever they do day in day out, I'm there with them anyway, don't need to see it posted later on. Whatever they do on a Saturday afternoon and Sunday, we'll catch up/chat about Monday... The art of conversation😏

Maybe.... This should have gone in the "things I don't like thread", sorry for jumping in fellas'!

yeah, my brother said I should just get Facebook for the fiesta mk7 parts for sale page, can pick up some good stuff on them apparently!

Lol, it's you then, you're the one the rest of the class envies.

Ah the art of conversation, something I never seemed to learn!  Like, someone says something you're not interested in, then you have to reply with something they're not interested in, then after 2 hours of this you both have to end with 'well it was nice seeing you'...

PS - Lol, this thread was already off topic with wiper arms in a brake painting thread, may as well carry on!

Just to keep this off topic (guilty as charged, sorry Tom! ) your wiper arm is in the post & should be with you in a couple of days.

Excellent thanks!
