Focus Mk3 zetec s strange noises on start up

It can only be described as a fridge freezer de-iceing. 

 

Seems to be coming from behind the radio  only last about 1 minute

No answer yet, and the topic was getting buried. My reply will bring back to the top of the pile, for a bit.

I guess it is a sort of crackling noise?

However, I think you need to be a bit more specific about when it happens.

Is it before cranking, or just after the engine fires up, could it be linked to the aircon, or heater recirculation flap, for instance?

More info makes it more likely to trigger a reply!
