Intermittent missing Diesel

My Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCI 57 plate intermittently misses, however it can be months before doing it again.

Has any one got any thoughts as what could be the problem?

    Had this happen to me when I had a 57 plate 1.4 tdi it was a leaking injector had it looked at a diesel injection garage faulty injector was replaced and the other injectors they cleaned and serviced this solved my problem they were a lot cheaper then going to Ford who had not got a clue what was causing the problem

    My car went through a phase of missing a beat, or little power dips now & again. After some months, the warning light came on, indicating EGR valve problems, and that is what it was.

    It is worth trying diagnostic equipment, there can be codes even if the light is not on, 1st occurrence of rare faults does not light the light. But the code will be stored.

    A basic OBD2 scanner will pick up EGR codes. But a Ford specific system like Forscan would be better.
