FocusFirst
My wife is thinking of buying a 2013 Focus ZETEC TDCI. I've read that the diesel filter can cause problems if the car is used for short journeys. The car if purchased would only be used for short runs to and from work of 4 miles each way, with occasional longer motorway runs once a month. Do 2013 and newer models suffer from such problems? Thanks.
Tasape
I have the 2.0 tdci and I'm not getting any issues except for not fully charging the battery

The DPF needs to heat up enough & long enough to do this. A motorway run of >20 minutes once a month should be adequate for this, if it only does 100 - 200 miles between motorway runs. Peter. iantt
Think with those short distances you would be better off considering a petrol version
