04 mondeo 2.0tdci smoking under acceleration

Featured Replies

Hi all, I recently purchased a mondeo that has had the turbo disconnected. I have managed to get the turbo reconnected but am getting black smoke under hard acceleration. I was getting this same smoke before the turbo was reconnected but since it seems to be worse. The wastegate may be sticking I have been told but as the smoke was there when turbo wasn't on and it has just got more of it I think it could be something else that is causing it. I have had the egr cleaned out but no difference.

Any help and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

black smoke indicates not enough air, and too much fuel. Check for splits or cracks in the air system, such as the intercooler pipe and elbows etc.
