Alloy Wheel Damage

Featured Replies

I made the mistake of taking my Mondeo to my local main dealer to have a seized locking wheel nut removed and in the act of doing this, they have damaged my alloy wheel. There are two what appear to be drill holes about half a cm deep very close together near the sight of the nut they removed. If they had warned me in advance there was the chance of damage I would not be so peed off. If when I picked up the car they had admitted what they had done I might be more forgiving. If they had phoned me back as promised when I rang to discuss this I might have been more understanding. As it is I am not a happy bunny. Do I have any redress? For example can I demand they have the damaged wheel repaired?  What do you kind folk think?

Oh and before you all tell me, I now know there are a number of specialists who could have removed the nut more cheaply and without damage. I should have done the research before not after!!! Typical of me I always learn the hard way.

Yep there are ways of removing wheel nuts very easily, a dynomec kit is probably the favourite.

you need to get on the phone to the service manager or get the car back to them and explain. That's out of order damaging a wheel and effectively denying all knowledge.

Thanks for the reply, stef. I contacted them and got the promise they would phone back but they didn't and when I phoned them I got an answering machine on which I left a message but got no reply.  I will pursue this tomorrow. They have not denied all knowledge, they just have avoided discussing it.

Can we all see a picture of the damaged hole please ? so we can all think twice about visiting a ford dealership!!

Well Ford dealership and I have come to an arrangement so I dont want to make too much of a big deal about it. I was really really peed off yesterday but I am happier today. It is enough to say that if your locking wheel cant be removed with the supplied key, look for a specialist remover who will have the right kit to do it without damage to your alloys.
