Focus auto gearbox query ... help !

Featured Replies

Hi,

First time poster so I'm hoping I'm opening this topic in the right place !

I've had my 2012 Focus Titanium Auto for about 6 months now and I've been pleased with it.  In the last couple of weeks though I've noticed then when I'm in 'D' the current gear number shows sometimes.  It flashes up next to the 'S' for a couple of seconds and then disappears again, there doesn't seem to be any pattern as to when it shows.

The main reason I'm asking the question is that I'm sure until a couple of weeks ago I'd not seen it before.  It would make more sense if it was always showing or appeared when the revs were at a certain point but doesn't seem to be the case. I appreciate that when the gearbox is in 'S' the gear should show in the same place but I'm definitely in 'D'.

Is this a regular thing that I've not noticed before or something else ?

If it is a Powershift then you possibly have a problem with the Transmission Control Module. Ford have extended the warranty for this on some models as they are known to be troublesome. Best to get advice from a Ford service centre.
