Clutch has suddenly become noisy

Hi, my first post here.

I bought a used Mondeo 1.8TDCi Zetec (late 58 plate) in April and going through the maintenance tickets it shows the clutch was replaced last year along with a gearbox rebuild. It's been a bit difficult at times to select the right gear, it seems stiff and very tight to get in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. However.....

I have just come back from a holiday in Cornwall where i spent around 7hrs stuck in traffic jams (2.5hrs on very steep hills) within the week and the clutch has now become noisy.

It makes a loud rattling noise when i depress the pedal half way, perhaps just before half way down. When the clutch is out it sounds fine. There is also a low hum when fully depressed also.

I have also found it becoming difficult at times (today especially) to select 3rd gear when driving with it cranking in several times making a racket.

Can anyone advise on whether this is a complete replacement needed or can it be repaired? I have no idea when it comes to this side of the mechanics and having just forked out 3k for the car i cannot afford to replace the clutch as of yet as i've just seen that Ford quote nearly 700 quid for a fitted replacement.
