2010 Mondeo Titanium intermittent starting problems

Featured Replies

We have 2010 Mondeo Titanium that sometimes won't start. We've had to be recovered 3 times in 12 months and have since had the fuel pump replaced as well as new spark plugs. The latest recovery driver suggested it could be a problem with the throttle body, but the garage found no error codes and say they can't diagnose it without them?

When it happens, it feels like it will start as it turns over and the engine kicks in for a second, then fades out. A second garage has now said the same thing and tried making us feel like we were making it up, but we've now lost all confidence in the car.

Any ideas welcome.

Really, if you want help you should say which engine this is. Ok, I understand you have given enough clues that people can work out that it is a petrol, but specific is better.

Second does it start, even temporarily, on 'easy start'? That gives a good clue as to whether the problem is fuel (and for most engines it is usually either fuel or spark); I would guess it probably is, but it would be nice to have evidence.
