Mondao EGR valve remapping

Featured Replies

Hi

My first ever post as really appreciate some advice.

I have an EGR valve problem on an a 2006 130bhp Mondao.

Problem started about 6 months ago when wife broke down.

Local trustworthy garage recovered and cleaned egr valve problem solved.

Broke down again within a matter of weeks.

Problem still pointed to egr valve so it was blanked off, car was not right on collection by wife, underpowered and smoking, back to garage.

New egr fitted, power normal although seems heavy on fuel, no smoke but ecu light comes on and diags still pointing to egr valve.

Garage recommend it go to ford as their diag equipment much better and he thinks the egr valve need mapping to ecu.

The question is has anybody heard of this being done before?

Any advice appreciated

It all sounds a bit odd. Blanking an EGR should not cause smoke, it is usually a stuck open EGR that can do that.

It is possible the valve needs calibration with the pcm (ecu), but the symptoms sound a bit severe for that.

So you seem to have two options:

1) Take it to a garage that has full Ford IDS system.

2) Download a system called Forscan, diagnose it yourself, (people here might be able to help, given the DTCs), then consider where or how best to fix it. If the valve does need calibration, then Forscan will probably have a service function for it.

If interested in Forscan, see

Thanks for help, think I will have to go for option 1 as not up to speed with mechanics, was really just checking if an egr does ever get calibrated to a ecu which you have confirmed although a bit unusual.

Thanks

Again
