Mk3 mondeo hatchback exhaust mounting on subframe

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've been getting an incredibly irritating knocking from the rear left of the car and I went to investigate,  I'm pretty sure it's the exhaust hitting the underside of the car as the noise is identical when I wiggle it with my hand.

I've had a good look under and I've noticed there is what looks like an exhaust mount on the rear subframe but no mount on it. There isn't an obvious location on the exhaust itself that it would connect to either which leads me to my question:

Is there supposed to be a mount from the rear subframe to the exhaust?

I can take some pictures of the underside if needs be.

Cheers !

No, there isn't a mount here on mine either. I've worked on a few mondeos which are the same so I'm not entirely sure why they put that hangar on the subframe.

I've been wondering if it was knocking because it's missing that but must be something else. Sounds like further investigating is needed!
