Screeching sound when accelerating ST Tdci

Featured Replies

Hi. I've been searching for information regarding a screeching sound on mondeo st tdci under acceleration. The sounds starts at 2500 rpm which indicates to me to be turbo related.

I've checked the EGR to intercooler pipe which seemed week so replaced with a known good one. The car has recently had a new EGR fitted.

Boost doesn't seem to be down that much.

I've taken the pipe off the turbo to check for play but all seems good.

Does anybody have any ideas where to look?

Thank you

Who fitted the EGR, is it tight and sat correctly? Seem to remember mine making a funny noise on my old ST TDCi.

Is the Alternator belt tight?

The screeching might be air trying to escape from one of the induction pipes on the way up to the intake manifold from the turbo - the 2.0D in both Ford and Volvo are known for the 'screech' (it's also been referred to as a shriek)  - although granted a different engine, it might be the same thing...
