Mondeo 2.0tdci titanium x (140 ) 2009

Featured Replies

Hello would appreciate some info please before I buy ?

Looking at the above car i noticed that when I enter the car reg when getting insurance quotes it comes up as

2009 Mondeo titanium x (140) is the (140) relates to bhp ? The advert states it had a replacement reconditioned engine at 170k

uprated brakes ect and now has 203k on the clock ,and that the bhp now is 164, also had a lot of suspension replaced ect ,

would this be okay on this car ? should there be anything i should look into / worry about ? thanks

Insuring it legally wont be cheap with a more powerful engine fitted as its now a modified vehicle. Personally i wouldnt buy a car with that sort of mileage but its your choice. Maybe a few insurance quotes might help you decide.

I would be wary, is there proof that the clock was at 170k when the recon engine went in? Is the clutch, radiator etc up to the job with the new power, I suspect the standard parts should be but I'd check. If you do intend to buy the car check the VIN on the car matches the V5c. As Wes said insuring it legally and declaring all the Mods, and that's everything from the new engine to any tints on windows, will not be cheap or easy. Budget and Adrian Flux cover modified cars but it will cost you especially if you have endorsements on your license, poor no claims, under 30 or a risky postcode. Good look if you decide to go ahead, let us know how you get on.
