first of all sorry for my spelling i am from denmark and i am new to the forum. i just sign up now because i am thinking it may be time to try out a ford, and take a break from the japanese (mostly hondas).

i have falling in love with a mondeo mk4 from 2012. its the model with the petrol 2,0 turbo and powershift autobox. i dont know what the model name is in uk but here in denmark its called a mondeo 2,0 scti titanium.

i want to ask you if somebody can tell me something about the car. what should i look out for. some pros and cons. how good is the autobox (hope its not like the vw dsg) can the car handle a remap (thinking of the powershift)

i am going to be driving about 15-20000km a year. and once a yeah i will have a trip to montenegro. that about 2200km one way on the motorway

 

Hi mickor. The Mondeo 2.0 turbo is a fabulous car.
The main thing to check is that it has had a full service and gearbox oil change every 3rd service. It is important and if the service history can not be proved then walk away or drop his price accordingly by the price of a Full dealer service including gearbox oil change.
The gearbox is very good and reliable but it does need it's services.
Take the car for a good test drive and at speed if possible. Listen out for knocks and bangs from the suspension. If nothing heard then good news.
Remapping isn't a problem. Many use Blufin and report no issues.
Which power unit is the car, 203 or 239 bhp? The 203 can be mapped to around 265 no problem and is popular with that engine. I have a 2012 239 bhp and love it. Great drive and power. Fuel economy isn't an issue to me but on a long run you should average somewhere in the 40mpg region. My short journeys of 2 miles I'm averaging 25mpg.
