Mondeo Mk3 TDCI Intercooler Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've been reading alot recently about the benefits (more power, better MPG, etc) of a larger intercooler on my TDCI.
Has anyone got any experience/thoughts on this? Would you only see the benefits after a remap or would you see some on the stock map?

Also i've seen this:
http://www.racebits.net/apps/webstore/products/show/5797072

It's apparently for the mk3 TDCI and it's only £80 which seems significantly cheaper than the other ones I've seen (usually around £280).
Has anyone used RACEBITS before?

Thanks!

I had an AIRTEC intercooler on my ex mk3 tdci. The benefits came after a serious remap.

465 Nm of torque/ 200 bhp for a 2.0 tdci !

Those figures were ic with cold air intake, Pipercross airfiltr and custom made injectors......

In stock map, there was little increase.

Nice, i'd love mine to make a bit more power. How much was the remap?

I've also been looking at the cold air intakes, did you see many benefits from it? Would it be alot better than the stock airbox with a performance filter?

How did you go about making custom injectors? sounds very interesting.

Just go for a superchips bluefin  upgrade, mine went from 140ish to 185 no problems and fuel consumption decreased

Bought some spares and have them "customize"
with parts of other (non-Ford) injectors. They had about 30% extra "flow".
And they were not on the limits, yet

Cool, i'm guessing you got it done professionally then, did you need an upgraded fuel pump aswell?
