if i use the manual key and the engine systems fault message appears and get the code read and it shows the powertrain module fail what happens next

That depends on what the fault is. We need to know the actual code that is given. It will be a letter (probably P) and 4 digits. Eg P1260.

the car was running sluggish so i took it back to the garage and they had a quick look under the bonnet and found the turbo intercooler  hose had a 2" split in it and they have ordered a new one and will be fitted tomorrow and im going to ask for a full scan on the code reader to clear any codes and fingers crossed the engine systems fault message will go

had the new intercooler hose replaced today and it now runs smooth and hopefully no more warning messages many thanks

The good news is no warning lights but 2 days later the temperature gauge went to red with engine temperature warning and the car had to be recovered and the garage had no mechanic until Tuesday

Ughh. Not so good.sad.png

I can't see any warning of that in the posts above, though it is just possible there was a clue in the DTC.

Any news yet of the cause? I can not think of any way the EGR valve could be involved. More likely to be a burst coolant hose, or even just a sensor failure. I hope it is nothing more serious.

when the mechanic replaced the intercooler hose he didn't check to see if any other hoses were loose and today the mechanic admitted it was his fault that a water hose was rubbing against a drive pully and split it and now a new hose has been fitted and all working

Nice honest mechanic then, could of just charged you for it all n pulled a fly one,

i would keep using them mate if been honest with you like that.

n good to here your cars sorted now
