Mist type washer jets Fiesta MK7

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, I'm sure I read on here before about people putting focus mist jets on MK7 Fiesta, does anyone have a link to either eBay or Ford for the washer jets?  Also has anyone bought metal pressed license plates off eBay? I'm looking at getting some but not sure what they require to be legal.

Cheers!

I have the mist jets on my Fiesta

Paintmodz7 is the username on EBay

Ford fini number is 1708796 they're about £3 each but are plain textured black plastic.

for colour coded as above or just use their Facebook page "paintmodz"

Thanks both! Standard black plastic is fine, can I just go to my local Ford part dealer and give them that fini number then?

Yes.

Make sure that you order UK plates.

Had plates from MatPol twice with free fitting kit. No problems and legal, Fast delivery.

4. Flags, symbols and identifiers

Flags and national identifying letters

You can display one of the following flags with identifying letters on the left-hand side of the number plate:

  • Union Flag
  • Cross of St George
  • Cross of St Andrew - also known as the Saltire
  • Red Dragon of Wales

The letters, or national identifiers, you can have are:

  • GREAT BRITAIN, Great Britain or GB
  • UNITED KINGDOM, United Kingdom or UK
  • CYMRU, Cymru, CYM or Cym
  • ENGLAND, England, ENG, Eng
  • SCOTLAND, Scotland, SCO or Sco
  • WALES or Wales

You’ll still need a GB sticker when travelling in Europe if you display one of these national flags and identifiers.

The flag must be above the identifier. You can’t have the flag or letters on the number plate margin, and neither can be more than 50 millimetres wide.

Euro symbol

If you display the Euro symbol and Great Britain (GB) national identifier on your number plate, then you won’t need a separate GB sticker when travelling within the European Union.

The Euro symbol must:

  • be a minimum height of 98mm
  • have a width between 40 and 50mm
  • have a reflective blue background with 12 reflecting yellow stars at the top
  • show the member state (GB) in reflecting white or yellow.

If the plates are supplied as per their description then they will be fully bsau145d compliant and street legal.
If they come without the makers details and/or the bsau lettering in the bottom right corner then they won't be.
The lettering appears to be in the correct Charles Wright font (or of substantial similarity to it) so all good there.

I went to Ford and ordered a pair today, £4 something each which is a bargain compared to what they're going for on eBay (£15-£16).

Still undecided on the plates but thanks to everyone who's replied, my standard front grill is damaged so I may swap that for the other style (Asian maybe?) and then buy the plates.

£11.26 for 2 washer jets with vat, I didn't have to remove the complete bonet cover either just a few clips either side for anyone looking to do it.

Easy enough to do?

Just looking online for some so will hopefully do mine soon too

Very easy, 10 minutes work at most, there are little black clips that hold the cover on the under side of the bonet which just pull out, I think it's 4 per side then pull the cover down, pull the tube off the old jet, push the retaining clip in with a screwdriver and the old jet will come out, clip the new jet in, connect the tube and put the bonet cover back then just repeat on the other side.  I found the hardest part was removing the old jets.

Sweet. And just to confirm the mist jets just have the one hole in the centre for the water to come out of?

Making sure to get the right ones

Yeah, just the one slot for the screen wash to come from.

Just done mine and yes it literally took 2minutes.

Excellent and thanks for the help

It's such a good, cheap, quick upgrade, I'd recommend it to anyone.

To behonest I think the mist jets are a poor upgrade! I removed my standard jets and fitted genuine Focus mist jets and the water pattern/mist or what ever you wanna call it is pretty crap, the fan spray is more concentrated on the outer V with a pathetic spray in the middle of the V, I'd would rather put my old ones back in! I enquired with Ford if the jets can be altered at all but can't as it's a slit, was told the spray pattern is set for a Focus windscreen and not a small windscreen.

I've never had an issue with the mist jets myself.  Interestingly I'm getting a new pair for the new car as the ones I purchased years ago are the heated type which I'm going to put in dad's Grand Tourneo as it has heated washers and the normal jets are useless.  I wonder if the price isn't the only thing that has changed! (I paid £10 for the new ones, I remember paying about £8 for the heated ones years ago).

Cheers, they look like just the thing I'm looking for myself.

Hey, thought I'd dig this up from the grave. There are some pretty wild prices for these things out there but... They're on Aliexpress right now. £0.01 with free delivery. 30-40 days shipping. Decided I'd give it a gamble and see what I get. I think I messed up and had the currency set as $ instead of £ so I'll maybe get a £2 charge from my bank but, still, cheap for a pair of these!

Yeah £3-4 is a pretty wild price.

Yeah some places are taking the mick with 25. I didn't say all. Some other threads I read said it had jumped from £3-4 to I think a tenner each from ford as well.
