How to replace D3S HID Bulb on a MK3.5 Focus?

Featured Replies

Ordered a set of new bulbs for the Focus as they're pretty much coming to their end (been on the car since day one, I do a lot of night driving), and I've taken one out to be presented with a bulb with a collar around the fitting and two screws which looks like it needs to be transferred to the new bulb.

However, because Google/Youtube is a POS and it now likes to show me the most completely irrelevant results, I'm going to ask here and see if anyone has changed a bulb on this model of Focus yet?

I'm confused as the bulbs are identical, D3S, but as I said above there is this extra bit of plastic to allow it to clip onto the headlamp housing.

Hi, have you tried this video?

How does an Audi headlight apply to a focus? It doesn't Thanks for trying though...

I have finally figured it out, and I have made my own how to video which I will be uploading seeing as there isn't one.

hi mate! where did you upload the video?

Ive just changed mine and its quite easy. Remove headlights then remove the dirt cap covering the bulb, twist the collar (not the bulb) anticlockwise nearly a quarter turn. Once the bulb is out twist the collar back straight then slide it off and fit it to the new bulb.
Twist the collar again before inserting bulb.

hei Karl,

thank you so much for the info. by the collar, do you mean the red circled thing?

because i've tried to move that, but it's stuck or tough to move, so i was afraid of pulling harder, not to break anything

Ye thats it, I couldnt do it with one hand, I used one finger from both hands to turn it, one finger on the part you circled and another on the opposite side of the bulb. As long as your turning the collar and not the bulb you can use a bit of extra force.
