I was today filling up the courtesy car, which now feels like it's mine, when I came across a basket of many things.  Some of which were giant bags of those foam shrimps and bananas.  A bag like the size of a Walker's grab bag filled with mixed shrimps and bananas.  I was even more delighted when it was a quid.  So I bought 3!  And on opening, they are like proper foam sweets - not those disappointing Haribo jellies.  It took me back!

This then got me thinking of other old school sweets.  None of this Cadbury Duo, or any of the varieties of KitKat crap.  But proper ones like sherbet saucers and chocolate mice.

Anyone else want to reminisce about their favourites of times past?

A personal favourite of mine... I have a bit of a reputation at work with them - it's not unknown for packets to appear on my desk :P  The violet fairy is kind to me.

Yes. Used to get undersized cards with them as well :P

What about those sherbet things with the liquorice sticks in? Or Dib dabs...

I remember those from my childhood (not too long ago), but suspect they have probably been removed from sale now due to all the PC crap.

Oh yes, I did enjoy them.  Very distinctive flavour, and quite addictive.

drumsticks, nightmare chewing them off the stick without the stick breaking up in your mouth.

apparently that was a homemade mix of coco and sugar,lick your finger and dip n lick.

Crumbled ginger nuts are also nice on ice cream.

Just remembered one of my favourites which was "Lanky Larry".  By God, they stuck to your teeth though!!

Refreshers and dip dabs, they are decent sweets. I did like a box of atomic fireballs!
