Lost: heater control knob insert!

hi guys,

I've managed to knock out the insert on one of the heating control knobs on my wife's Mondeo. Went to the dealer and apparently you cannot purchase just the insert. You need to buy the whole unit which retails at close to £2k!

So question to all you wise folk. How do I save £2k !! ??
