12V Socket

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I was just wondering has anyone fitted an extra 12V socket into the back of the mondeo? I want one for long journeys for my kids but unsure where to wire it to? any help would be appreciated?

I've done it with my previous mondeo mk3 (2005-..).

It was a HB, with a DVD player (for road maps */DENSO) In that housing, I've placed the 12V socket.

You just have to find a wire that is on permanent tension and connect it to. I've used the wire that powered the parking sensor module, but I'm sure that there are more 'power'cables.

I would connect it to a switched live rather than a permanent live. A good feed would be the rear wiper power wire as I believe that is switched, if you are putting it in the boot. If you are wanting the socket in the rear passenger compartment then take a feed from the 12V socket in the front and route a wire along the centre console to the rear footwell. If you use a socket designed for a motorcycle they usually have a good baseplate that you can use to stick it down somewhere. Make sure you put an inline fuse between the tap and the socket.
