Old car on Autotrader/trustford

Featured Replies

For those who dont know, I traded in my 64 plate fiesta in last Friday for a new ST-3.

Now obviously I was expecting to see it on trustfords site and AutoTrader. But it feels weird to see it on there haha!

Looks strange seeing what was my car last week for sale...

This is my first time experiencing this, just hope my car goes to someone who will look after it the way i did!

Anyone else recently experienced this?

Or anyone know the whereabouts of their previous cars?

Yep - traded my 2012 Fiesta Zetec for a 2016 ST-2 in September:

Same here.

I recently traded in a Suzuki Alto for a 2016 Fiesta ST-Line. It was weird seeing it for sale and even weirder when I looked up the MOT history on it and saw the dealer had performed an MOT and it had failed.

I keep finding myself looking at other cars I could have bought. I really wanted an ST but it was a bit out of my budget for deposit and finance wise. The Fiesta I bought though is head and shoulders above the Alto I had in terms of performance (feels like I am driving an ST in comparison), comfort and build quality.

It was good seeing that the dealer was not selling the car for for much more than they gave me for part ex.

When I've sold or traded in a car I sometimes Google my old reg no to see where it ended up. Two stick in my mind. One was a nearly new  Land Rover Freelander that we just didn't get on with. Surprised to find it ended up on sale down South for a lot more than I'd paid for it new. Don't know if they sold it for that though.

Other was a Focus that I sold to a local used car dealer for a very good price. It stayed on his website for months, with the price dropping steadily, before going through 2 other dealerships where the same happened, ending up at a Ford main dealer about 50 miles away. I think it eventually sold for what I'd got for it in the first place, so I don't think the trade made anything on that one!😁

I've also looked on the mot checker on the gov.uk website to see what happened to cars I owned years ago. Recently pleased to discover that the MG Midget I owned about 45 years ago is still around, though it's changed colour since then!

According to its MOT history, and I assume just before it was scrapped, my old Focus Zetec was presented for its last test riddled with rust and without any rear seats! Poor car [emoji853]

It looks like my old Fiesta Zetec has finally sold.

I kept an eye on it and they knocked off £550 in the end. It sold almost immediately then after 2 months on the forecourt.

So by my calculations Ford made £17% on it (although that doesn't take into account the discount and freebies I negotiated on my ST). Whoever bought it got it for a good price (less than it should have been from a dealer).

If anyone on here just bought WU62 HGN then you got a good one - it was immaculate. Enjoy [emoji106]
