Non start

On a couple of occasions my  2.2 diesel has struggled to start but once it did it ran perfect even at motorway speeds.

This morning it started as normal, went to pull away and the engine cut out and would not restart.

Called AA and the guy put his code reader on it came up with P0490 EGR fault, got car started by removing MAF sensor plug.

Took it to AA recommended garage and the only fault they could get was P0113 intake air temp sensor 1 circuit high input.

They replaced this and the car started fine.

It drives perfect with no loss of power and very smooth.

Would the above cause the car not to start?

I'd say it is possible but I wouldn't really like to go much further than that. It could cause the glow plugs not to come on (not that they come on much above arctic temperatures) and it could cause the fueling to be wrong. Really I'd have expected it to still start but with some difficulty.
