    Anyone fitted a gearknob to there mk7? How do u get The plaslic off round the gearstick to get to the gaiter? Just pull it?

    Is the gear knob attached inside somehow because every time I try to take it off I can't actually just unscrew it?

    It's a bugger to get it off first time round. Needs a good strong hand on it to just twist it off

    I'm struggling with this too tried to unscrew it and it won't budge once it gets to a certain pint it just keeps turning and not going anywhere, any ideas guys?

    Sounds like you've got to the end of the thread if it just spins on one point, give it a good pull upwards now...and watch your nose lol.

    I’ve got a mk7 ztec S black edition and I’m trying to unscrew my gear knob but it seems that the whole inside turns and the gear knob doesn’t do anything can anyone help

    I'm not aware of any mechanism or locking screw that would prevent a knob from being unscrewed. 

    Just keep turning it, it's on quite a long thread so it might not look like it's moving much. 

    If you can slide the gaiter down from the knob you'll get a better idea of how much it's moving.
